Visa Information

VISA PROCESS & FEES

Government of Nepal issues different 9 types of visa.

TOURIST VISA

Eligibility – Tourist who intends to visit Nepal with valid passport.

Issuing authority – Ministry of Home, Department of Immigration.

Period – Max 150 days a year

Visa fee:

60 days single entry US$ 30 (For the first visit in a visa year)
Multiple entry US$ 50 additional (For same visa year)

Extension:

30 days US$ 30

Can extend 2 times by immigration offices and last time by Department of Immigration.

Late extension – US$ 2 for first 30 days, US$ 3 for 31-90 days and US$ 5 after 90 days.

GRATIS VISA -

Children below 10 years, citizen of Nepali origin, citizen of SAARC countries, citizen if peoples republic of china, Dependants up to 16 years holding foreign passports of Nepalese parents, Any who has lived in Nepal up to 15 days continuously re-entering Nepal during the same visa year and entering for 3 or less days.

Note:

Chinese nationals are requested to enter Nepal with Nepalese visa.
Refugee travel document holders requested to arrive with Nepalese visa. Nepal will not provide visa on arrival.
Visa year covers from 1st January to 31st December.
Tourist visa shall not be allowed to work with or without receiving remuneration.
All kinds of application forms related to visa are available in the Immigration Offices free of cost.

DIPLOMATIC VISA

Eligibility – Diplomatic passport holders and their family.

Issuing authority – Ministry of foreign Affairs

Visa fee – Gratis.

Period – 30 Days.

OFFICIAL VISA

Eligibility – Non residential-diplomatic missions personnel of and their family, UN personnel, UN lassiez passez holder and their family, Personnel working in the international and regional organization, Advisor and specialists working in Nepal under the official agreement and their family and Honorary Nepalese consulate general and their families.

Issuing authority – Ministry of foreign Affairs.

Visa fee – Gratis.

Period – 30 Days.

STUDY VISA

Eligibility – Students, Research Scholars, Teachers and their family.

Documents – Recommendation letter from the Ministry of Education and Sports of Nepal, a copy of passport, copy of last Nepalese visa, Six copies of application with photographs, bank balance equivalent to US$ 3,000 per year or US$ 250 per month for applicant and US$ 2,000 for each family member.

Duration – 1 year (can be extend)

Issuing Authority – Department of Immigration on the recommendation of Ministry of Education.

Visa fee – US$ 9 for Sri Lankan per month, US $ 15 for Bangladeshi per year with multiple entry, US $ 5 for Maldivian per month, US $ 15 – single and US $ 25 multiple entry for Pakistani per year and US $ 40 per month for other students.

NON – TOURIST VISA

Eligibility – Foreigners involved in socio, economic development works, INGO workers, employees of foreign Nepalese Missionaries, representative of newspaper and news agencies, assistants of diplomatic visa holders, remuneration holder of any company, association, industry or HMG office with approval from HMG Nepal, Foreigners work in any international airlines organization located in Nepal, importer on the recommendation of government or Federation of Industries or Chamber of Commerce of related country, Nepalese origin holding foreign passports, foreigners married to a Nepalese citizen and leader of a tourist group.

Issuing Authority – Department of Immigration on the recommendation of concerned agencies.

Documents – A copy of passport (including last Nepalese Visa copy), recommendation from the concerned Ministry or Department, Work permit (for the employees), Six Copies of application with photographs, marriage certificate from the concerned authority, relation certificate from the competent authority, valid Press identity card issued from Department of Information.

Duration – Up to one year. (Can be extend)

Issuing Authority – Royal Nepalese Embassy or Permanent Diplomatic Missions aboard and Department of Immigration.

Visa fee – US$ 10 for journalist per month, US$ 10 for marriage status per month, US$ 20 for worker category. US$ 60 per month for first year and US$ 100 per month for succeeding year for all categories.

BUSINESS VISA

Eligibility – Foreign investors and persons involved in trade and commerce.

Documents – License certificate to make investment in any business or industrial enterprise in the kingdom of Nepal, Recommendation from the concerned Ministry/Department, Six copies of application with photographs, a copy of passport including the last Nepalese visa.

Issuing Authority – Department of Immigration on the recommendation of concerned agencies.

Period – Up to 5 Years (max 90 days stay at a time)

Visa Fee – US$ 100 for one year with multiple entry and US$ 250 for five years.

RESIDENTIAL VISA

Eligibility – International reputed person, person involved in economic, social and cultural development of Nepal, foreign passport holders of Nepalese, large-scale investors (minimum 10,00,000 US$ at a time) and foreigners interested to settle in Nepal.

Documents – A copy of passport, six copies of application with photographs, Registration certificate of the industrial enterprise, copy of last Nepalese visa (if any), Bank statement expenses over US$ 20,000 per year, health certificate, no objection letter and character certificate from their country, recommendation from Home Ministry of Nepal.

Submitting Application – Nepalese Diplomatic Missions/Embassies abroad and Department of immigration in Nepal.

Issuing and Renewal Authority – Department of immigration with approval of HMG Nepal.

Visa fee – US$200 at the time of issuance for one year and US$100 per year at the time of renewal.

Note: According to the Immigration Regulation, the term family includes husband, wife, father, mother and dependent son and daughter.

NON – RESIDENTIAL NEPALESE VISA

Eligibility – Any foreigner of Nepalese origin residing in foreign country who wish to reside or conduct business, profession or Study, teach in any subject in Nepal, non-residential Nepalese visa may be issued to him/her and of his/her family.

Documents – A copy of passport, Six copies of application with photographs, A copy of last Nepalese visa (if he/she had stayed in Nepal), Health certificate, Recommendation letter of relationship from the concerned Embassy or Nepalese local bodies, Case of student recommendation from school/college.

Submitting Application – Nepalese Diplomatic Missions/ Embassies abroad and Department of immigration in Nepal.

Duration – Up to 10 years. (Can be extend)

Issuing and Renewal Authority – Department of Immigration with approval of HMG Nepal.

Visa Fee – US$ 100 per year and US$ 50 for student per year.

Note:

The visa fee is waived for those who are less than 16 years of age.
According to the Immigration Regulation, the term family includes husband, wife, father, mother and dependent son and daughter.

TRANSIT VISA

Eligibility – Transit visa generally for one week and issued from airport traveling in an aircraft having landed in Nepal casually due to any reason or any foreigner who has departed from Nepal and has been rejected back to Nepal.
